Highway 3 Twinning Detour Notice
Published
Traffic changes are in effect on Highway 3 east of Taber beginning July 16. Motorists should expect an eastbound detour, reduced speed limits, and minor delays as construction crews complete work related to the Highway 3 Twinning Project.
To accommodate the construction of the HWY 3 Twinning tie-in locations, there will be a traffic detour implemented the morning of July 16, 2026 just east of Taber between HWY 36 and RR 163. Westbound traffic will remain unaffected by the detour, but will be subject to a 60km/h speed reduction. Eastbound traffic will be detoured around the construction area with a posted speed of 60km/h while crews can complete concrete median removal and realignment work. This detour will be in place until final commissioning of the new HWY 3.
Wide loads greater than 4m will be restricted traveling westbound between the dates of July 16 to August 5, and will be updated as required on 511. Please contact 511 before hauling wide loads through this area.
Minor delays can be expected while traffic is being transitioned to the detour, use other routes if available.
