AMTA Announces Book Release: Pro-Tech & Pro-Active
If you've been talking to AMTA staff and at our recent events, you might be aware of the work we've been doing with safety technology for commercial vehicles.
The Association is happy to announce a major result of this work: "Pro-Tech & Pro-Active: Understanding and Leveraging the World of Safety Technology to Move Beyond Compliance-Focused Safety Management", now freely available here.
This book was meant to fill the gap in industry knowledge between the ever-evolving world of fleet safety technologies and the industry they're meant to help. There are four main areas discussed in the book:
1 - The difference between proactive safety management and safety management that's focused on compliance.
2 - Descriptions of most types of fleet safety technology (vehicle- and office-based) and the management best practices needed to support them.
3 - An analysis of the effectiveness of the technology discussed in the book.
4 - A discussion on return on investment (ROI), including what it is, where it fits when making decisions, and its limits as a metric to gauge safety technology performance.
AMTA is making this book available for free on our website as part of the work we do to support trucking, busing, and all other road-based fleets in Alberta and beyond.
