Certified Transportation Safety Professional

Program Overview

The Certified Transportation Safety Professional (CTSP) is a designation for experienced safety and compliance individuals capable of developing and managing a carrier’s road transportation safety program. Upon obtaining their designation, CTSP’s are often accountable for supervising the day-to-day functions of others in an organization and are often responsible for providing guidance and acting as a subject matter expert in the field of safety and compliance.

The program’s course curriculum consists of eight mandatory courses, and three electives, all which aim to develop the candidate’s ability to demonstrate their comprehension of seven required competencies: legislation and standards, operational duties, investigations, public and personal safety, data management, stakeholder engagement, and learning and development. The CTSP designation courses further build on CTSC foundations, providing students the tools they need to confidently address performance issues within an organization, giving them hands-on experience with each stage of an audit cycle – including analysis, identification and solution implementation, and introducing them to a variety of best practice tools and techniques that aide in the development of high-quality course materials and assessments. Upon successful completion of course requirements, students are eligible to sit the CTSP exam. Graduates of the CTSP designation program are entitled to use the ‘Certified Transportation Safety Professional’ title, and the ‘CTSP’ post-nominals, following their name.

Since their inception in 2019, AMTA’s designation programs have gained notoriety, and are being recognized inter-provincially, yielding graduates with comprehensive knowledge of integral transportation safety and compliance matters.
