Collision Investigation for Safety Professionals

Course Objectives:

To allow safety professionals involved in the commercial transportation industry to properly and completely investigate and record the information necessary to evaluate collisions involving their vehicles.
To train them in the current methods and terminology to assist them to determine the route cause and evaluate the preventability of collisions.
To train them in the collision preventability review process as required by Alberta Transportation

Course Content:

The course will utilize the basic concepts of the 5-day Collision Investigation Level II course       recognized throughout North America. Iit has been modified to reduce the reconstruction elements (scene measurements, scale drawings, and speed and crush calculations) and add elements dealing with preventability & preventability review and dealing with the media. The measurement activities will be conducted in class utilizing table-top model exercises. Participants will be required to pass module quizzes and assignments. Some limited out of class time will be required to complete assignments. Upon successful completion of the course, each participant will be issued a certificate.
