Summary of Operations:
All the sophisticated safety systems being built into
modern trucks can apply themselves only where the "rubber hits
the road", the small patches where tires contact the ground.
There have been dramatic technological improvements within the
trucking industry, but none have replaced the critical need for
tires to be properly inflated. Sadly, many North American
studies prove this is not the case for most vehicles, most of
the time!
TireDog, through its Authorized Dealers across Canada, provide
and installs aftermarket Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS)
for the trucking industry. These systems provide the following
benefits;
-
Increase fuel efficiency and decrease
greenhouse gas emissions: The easiest way to immediately
improve fuel efficiency by 2% - 5% is simply ensuring
correct tire pressures.
-
Extend tire life: The single largest cause of
tire wear is with tandem tires, where a 10 psi inflation
difference results in the under inflated tire being
"dragged" 13 feet for every mile driven.
-
Improve vehicle safety: The single largest
cause of tire blowouts is heat generated running under low
pressure.
-
Reduce Operational Costs: A pre-trip walk
around by drivers is difficult to enforce and expensive to
implement because of the 30 minutes or more required to
first ascertain and address tire pressures.
-
Regulatory Compliance: Changing rules in the
US and Canada are increasing fleet and driver accountability
for vehicle safety. A very frequently cited infraction is
tire pressure.
