Alberta's Best Put Their Skills to the Test!
ATTENTION
PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS!
The 2010 Professional Truck Driving
Championships will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010,
at the Westerner Park in Red Deer, Alberta, located at
4847A – 19th Street. This annual competition attracts
close to 100 of the province's best professional drivers from
throughout the industry. Spectators are welcome and admission is
free.
The competition, an exercise in timed precision driving, is open
to all professional truck drivers who hold a valid Alberta
commercial driver's licence and who have been collision-free for
one year. There are six categories in this event:
Step Van, Straight Truck, Single-Single, Single Tandem,
Tandem-Tandem and B-Train.
The competition consists of
three tests of knowledge and skill:
1) a written exam, which tests the drivers' general knowledge of
the industry and equipment;
2) a vehicle inspection, during which drivers must find a series
of planted defects; and
3) a challenging road course, which simulates the everyday
skills of maneuvering, cornering and judging distance on an
obstacle course.
You or your company may enter as many drivers as you wish in
each category. However, individual drivers may only compete in
one category.
Along with entering drivers in the
individual categories, a company may decide to enter a group of
drivers as a team.
Driver registration at the site begins at
6:30am and the event begins promptly at 7:00am.
An awards banquet will follow at the Capri Hotel, Trade &
Convention Centre, located at 3310 50 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta.
Cocktails are at 6:00pm and the dinner and awards banquet is at 7:00pm. Dress wear is southern Alberta casual.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to the registered drivers
for free and at a minimal cost for all spectators.
