Director, Safety and Operations (Senior Manager)

The organization: The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA)
represents all sectors of the highway transportation industry.
We take a leadership role in enhancing workplace safety and
fostering a healthy, vibrant industry. We are a proactive,
dynamic association that is responsive to the needs of our
members.
Position Objective: This position is responsible for planning
and organizing the Safety and Operations portfolio for the
Association. This includes managing, directing and ongoing
evaluation of the activities associated with the Injury
Reduction and Training program Compliance and Regulatory Affairs
and COR, Quality Assurance and Review. Working with the
association, government and industry representatives and
stakeholders, is responsible for developing, coordinating and
communicating activities that are consistent with the goals,
policies and objectives of the Association.
Responsibilities: Some responsibilities will include but not
limited to:

Execute the responsibilities of an
Association Director according to lawful and ethical
standards as described in the AMTA policy manuals and the
AMTA Code of Conduct and Ethics Declaration

Promote the AMTA through maintenance of
personal customer relationships with strategic clients
-
Define high quality customer
relationships and communicate this definition to all
customer service employees

Establish, implement and manage
short and long-range goals, objectives, policies and
operating procedures

Manage portfolio performance against
agreed upon targets and budgets and within existing policies
and standards
-
Construct and implement an
evaluation strategy that measures program performance
against organizational objectives
-
Demonstrate the behaviours and
actions of a leader, through coaching and mentoring direct
reports and members and members of the management team to
ensure a collaborative environment that integrates service
and supports groups in reaching corporate goals and
objectives
The positions reports to the Executive Director and is
responsible leading resources located in both Edmonton and
Calgary. Travel is a requirement.
Competencies required: Communication, problem solving, teamwork,
self management, planning and organizing, technology, project
management and leadership.
Qualifications: Successful completion of post secondary
education in business or equivalencies from a combination of
relevant education, experience and training. A Certificate from
the Director of Safety Program or equivalent, preferred. 10+
years of senior management/supervisory experience in either the
transportation industry or in safety program and services,
preferred.
