AMTA Fleets Rewarded with $3 Million in Safety
Performance Refunds
Spring is the time of year
when the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) recognizes the injury
reduction efforts of
Alberta
employers with a refund. This month $68.2 million was refunded
to Alberta employers, with $3 million dollars going to Alberta companies who
possess their Certificate of Recognition (COR) status through
Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA).
“This is a reflection of the great work AMTA
carriers are doing with respect to keeping their workers safe
through effective health and safety management programs,” says
AMTA’s Injury Reduction and Training Manager, James Courtney.
Employers get refunds by earning a Certificate of Recognition (COR),
improving safety performance or maintaining industry leadership
in safety. The refunds are delivered through the Partnerships in
Injury Reduction (PIR) program.
PIR
is a safety incentive program for employers and is designed to
encourage injury prevention and the development of effective
workplace health, safety and disability management systems. All
employers can participate in the PIR
program and be eligible for refunds by maintaining a Certificate
of Recognition (COR).
AMTA
encourages all employers to obtain a COR
and participate in the PIR program.
