Canada Border
Services Agency (CBSA) will be rolling
out electronic manifests in June 2010 and it is time for fleets
to make themselves aware of how to comply. e-Manifest will
require the pre-arrival transmission of electronic information
from highway and rail carriers, freight forwarders, importers
and custom brokers for all modes of transportation (air, marine,
highway, and rail). Highway carriers will have the option to
transmit manifest information via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
functionality either direct to CBSA or
via service provider.
This seminar will enable carrier operational staff to learn more
about e-Manifest and what to expect once e-Manifest filing via
EDI begins in June!
The first implementation phase of e-Manifest is scheduled to
start in Spring 2010, with highway carriers transmitting cargo
and conveyance data via EDI
transmissions to the CBSA in advance
of arriving at the border.
The instructor will review e-Manifest, the compliance
requirements for carriers, who can file e-Manifest via
EDI, the messaging e-Manifest filers
can expect to see and how to act accordingly, available support,
enforcement plan, and how to get started.
