New Member
Benefit: Dental, Health &
Insurance Program for Lease Operators
The Alberta Motor
Transport Association is pleased to announce the formation of a
new affinity program, Truxplan, with Unigroup Inc.
(www.unigroup.ca). Unigroup is a long time associate member of
the AMTA and is well-known to many of
the membership.
For years there has been a tendency for employers to add lease
operators to corporate benefit plans as the only option for
reasonable and affordable coverage. This is no longer wise due
to the tightening of tax legislation. The
AMTA has created along with Unigroup, a program for
trucker groups of two or more to address this problem.
Coverages that are available include group life, AD&D, Dependent
Life as well as optional short-and long-term disability plans.
Also contained in the plan is an extended health and dental
program offering drug cards, vision care, an employee assistance
program and out-of-Canada coverage. In addition, a Critical
Illness program is included covering 21 diseases such as heart
attack and cancer.
Truxplan will also offer traditional programs to fleets
involving a variety of options including self-insurance on
health and dental programs.
Watch AMTA’s web site in the weeks’ ahead for links to more
detailed information about the new program offerings. In the
meantime, should members wish more information about the program
and how it might work for them, please call Carmen McCullough at
1-800-292-9066 for details.
